The European economy is still struggling and the growth rate of the Western European Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was only 0.3% in 2013. For 2014, the growth rate is expected to pick up again. Still, the share of e-commerce in the GDP is steadily growing. At the moment, the eGDP amounts to 3.4% of the total Western European GDP.
In terms of the share of e-commerce in GDP, the UK is clearly above the other countries in Western Europe. Their eGDP is twice as high as the share of Ireland, which is ranked second. Behind Ireland, France ranked third followed by the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
