Paul Nijhof has been appointed as the new Chairman of Thuiswinkel.org, the association for online shops in the Netherlands. He succeeds Ed Nijpels, who held this position since 2008.
Nijhof (1965) is a director and investor and was active as an entrepreneur in (online) retail for years. Among other positions, he acted as the Chairman and CEO of 3Si Commerce (Otto Group) and CEO and Co-owner of RFS Holland Holding/Wehkamp. Currently, he is a Strategic Advisor at Creatrade GmbH (Germany). In addition, he is a member of the Supervisory Board at Delta Lloyd as well as at ReintenInfra BV. Earlier in his career, he was the Managing Director of the Consumer Division of Nuon, one of the major utility companies in the Netherlands.
The General Meeting unanimously endorsed Nijhof’s appointment by Thuiswinkel.org’s Board of Directors. As a result, he is Thuiswinkel.org’s fourth chairman since its establishment in 2000. The daily management of the office in Ede, the Netherlands, remains with CEO Wijnand Jongen.
Nijhof was Entrepreneur of the Year in 2012 (Ernst & Young), and a Director of Thuiswinkel.org between 2006 and 2012, during which he acted as Vice-Chairman for four years. In adition, he was appointed as Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau (a royal honor) for several accomplishments in 2013.
