Switzerland: the “Followers” are Starting to Get Into their E-commerce Stride

Under the direction of Professors Ralf Wölfle and Uwe Leimstoll, the FHNW Technical University of Northwestern Switzerland have published a detailed survey of 34 leading suppliers to the online trade that have their headquarters in Switzerland. This 2012 E-Commerce Report is the fourth in a series that began in 2009.

In matters of fashion and innovative business concepts, Switzerland always tends to exhibit the “follower” effect, states the report. The observed facts support the contention that they are rarely revolutionary and often reprise what has already been proven in other countries. The reasons are firstly due to the comparatively small Swiss market and secondly the high complexity arising from the multiplicity of languages and cultural differences.
