Recent research by the National Retail Federation and University of Arizona shows that 70% of retailers will replace existing point-of-sale systems (POS systems) over the next three years, and nearly 40% are at least considering a single platform to manage all interactions and transactions across channels. This single platform would consolidate and manage key data elements, business rules, and functionality that historically lived in multiple systems (i.e. POS, e-commerce, CRM) to reduce complexity and deliver a seamless shopping experience across channels.
What will be the role of your e-commerce system in the total IT architecture? Will e-commerce systems replace the POS systems? Are you already using tablets to sell more in stores? What benefits are retailers really realizing with these changes? Together with the NRF (the American National Retail Association) a study has been set-up to find the answers.?
