Ecommerce Europe will host three pre-conferences on June 2nd, preceding the Global E-commerce Summit in Barcelona. One of these pre-conferences is dedicated to online payments. The preconference will be attended by payment experts from merchants and service providers, policy makers and consultants and the objective is to present trends and developments, express issues that merchants experience and exchange ideas and best practices to deal with them.
A lot of attention is focused around the authentication of payments through various channels. This might well be the center of innovation for the coming years. Attending the pre-conference will give a comprehensive update on all strategic developments in online payments for e-commerce.
Workshop Strong authentication
The 2013 edition of Ecommerce Europe’s position paper on internet payments re-mentions 3D Secure and its suboptimal user experience as one of the most pressing issues in today’s payment landscape for merchants. In the afternoon there will be a workshop about ‘Strong authentication’ and alternatives for 3D Secure with two practical approaches presented by John Karantzis (iSignThis) and Daniel Mattes (Jumio). The objective of this session is to address the recommendations put forward by European Central Bank in January 2013 on stronger authentication for online transactions (link).
