On Thursday, March 26th, E-commerce Europe and E-commercefacts.com held a dinner meeting in Madrid  with a group of retailers in order to analyze the current situation of e-commerce in Europe and address its major challenges.

It was a new edition of the Round Tables, a series of meetings held in different European cities, which on this occasion was conducted with the support of the Spanish Association of Digital Economy (Adigital).

During the meeting, Marlene ten Ham, Secretary General of Ecommerce Europe, explained to the audience the work undertaken by her organization in the field of e-commerce in Europe, especially highlighting everything which concerns the harmonization of European policies in some key areas such as security and data protection, consumers’ rights, online payment methods, taxation and logistics.

Additionally, Ten Ham wanted to highlight other actions carried out by her association that are, as she said, of great importance. She e.g. addressed directing studies and researches, and organizing networking events such as the Annual Conference, which this year will take place in Barcelona on June 8th.

Following the intervention of Ecommerce Europe’s Secretary General, Just Eat’s Operations and Expansion director for Spain, France, Italy and Brazil, Jerome Gavin, took the floor and presented the keys to success for his company, which is dedicated to sending takeout food in 13 countries by using the Internet. Gavin offered some data related to the company’s performance during 2014, and presented the forecasts for this fiscal year.
