To support the implementation of the European Strategy on Artificial Intelligence, the European Commission set up a High-level Expert Group comprising representatives from academia, civil society, as well as the industry. The High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI HLG) will be in charge of elaborating recommendations on future AI-related policy developments and on ethical, legal and societal issues related to AI, including socio-economic challenges.
To ensure that a broad spectrum of stakeholders can express their opinion of the future of AI in Europe, the European Commission launched simultaneously last week the European AI Alliance, a forum of discussion on the developments of Artificial Intelligence and its impact. Members of the AI Alliance will be able to interact with the expert of the High-level Expert Group through consultations and feedback. The discussions hosted on the platform will contribute to the European debate on AI and will feed into the European Commission’s policy-making in this area.
Ecommerce Europe welcomes the initiatives from the Commission to ensure that participants from diverse sector get to express their opinion on a topic as crucial as Artificial Intelligence, and will bring forward the questions and the concerns of online merchants in the debate through the AI Alliance in the coming months.
