On 22-23 October, Ecommerce Europe joined the 2019 edition of the Portugal Digital Summit in Lisbon. The Summit, organized by Ecommerce Europe’s Portuguese member ACEPI, was a huge success with over 200 speakers on four thematic stages and about 4,000 professionals who participated over 2 days in what is today the largest national initiative for the development and promotion of the digital economy in Portugal.
In particular, Wijnand Jongen, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Ecommerce Europe and CEO of Thuiswinkel.org, gave a keynote speech on the future of online shopping. This was also a special occasion for the launch of the Portuguese version of his book, “The end of online shopping”. Florian Seikel, Board member of Ecommerce Europe and Director of Public Affairs at Händlerbund also gave a speech, since Germany was this year’s invited country at the Summit.
Luca Cassetti, Director of EU Public Affairs of Ecommerce Europe, moderated a session on “e-Logistics: fueling e-commerce growth in Europe”, where João Cadete de Matos gave the perspective of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) on the future of the EU postal market. Alexandre Nilo Fonseca, Chairman of the e-Logistics Working Group of Ecommerce Europe, Walter Trezek, Chairman of the UPU Consultative Committee, and Jaco Voorspuij, Senior Manager Transport and Logistics at GS1 Global Office, gave all their perspective on the need for standards and harmonization in the EU postal/parcel delivery market. On the same occasion of the Summit, ACEPI kindly hosted the meeting of the e-Logistics Working Group of Ecommerce Europe.
