Danish unemployment expected to decrease

Shares

The Danish labor force amounted to 2.7 million persons in 2013 and the labor market is functioning well thanks to its flexibility and security. Still, unemployment has been growing slightly in Denmark over the last few years, and in 2013 it reached 8.0%. However, for 2014 this rate is expected to decrease very slightly, to 7.9%. This is well below the EU28 average of 10.5%.

As a result of tax cuts, the Danish inflation dropped from 2.4% in 2012 to 1.5% last year. For 2014, this number is expected to remain the same. The elimination of taxes on specific goods including sugar and high-fat foods had a positive impulse on consumer demand, which is expected to remain stable in 2014.
