In what has been described as a “win for commerce”, ECR Europe is joining forces with leading commerce organization EuroCommerce for its 17th Conference & Marketplace next month. Reflecting the two organisations’ shared interests, this event is one of several planned by EuroCommerce as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Christian Verschueren, Director General of EuroCommerce, explains: “EuroCommerce and ECR Europe have had a good working relationship in the past and our partnership for the 2013 Conference & Marketplace cements the reciprocal need for co-operation with one another in ensuring better results for the commerce sector and sustainable value for consumers. The 2013 conference is a win-win-win situation – for EuroCommerce, for ECR Europe and for commerce.”
With a great line-up of speakers from retail, FMCG companies and politics, this will be an engaging and quality conference, focused on the future shopping experience (primarily through e-commerce), supply chain, competiveness, sustainability and innovation. As an affiliate member of EuroCommerce, e-commerce members are strongly encouraged to attend, to learn, network and make your voices heard – this is certainly an event not to be missed!
E-commerce at the forefront
A key focus area in the ECR Europe framework, “Transforming the Shopper Experience”, e-commerce especially, as well as mobile commerce, will be high on the agenda at the conference as the issue of how businesses can learn to adapt, survive and prosper in today’s tough market environment to face the future with confidence. The different plenaries will consider the changing world of consumer behavior, breakthrough technologies and smart thinking, including Serpil Timuray, CEO of Vodafone Turkey. Carrefour CEO Georges Plassat will lead the keynote lecture on how we can transform the shopping experience for the benefit of consumers. Dedicated break-out sessions on shopper psychology, mobile shopping and e-commerce will also reinforce the importance of e-commerce and explore the steps ahead.
High-level speakers addressing highly important issues
Among the top speakers will be the former prime minister of the Netherlands, Jan Peter Balkenende, who now leads the Dutch Sustainable Growth Coalition, EU Competition Commissioner Joaquín Almunia, MEP Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, INSEAD Marketing Professor Marcel Corstjens and respected environmentalist Jonathon Porritt.
